1933 Ford Boydster III Street Rod – U0528
Vehicle Description
Super star customers such as Eddie Van Halen, Michael Anthony, the Beach Boys, Shaquille O’Neal, Roger Clemens, Darryl Strawberry and ZZ Top’s Billy Gibbons all had Boyd Coddington vehicles built to showcase their personalities, with amazing — and often renowned — results. This is Boydster III, one of a handful of designs left unfinished before Boyd’s untimely passing at the age of just 63. It’s a street and show rod representing Boyd’s style of super clean, uncluttered lines, but with ultra high quality components and engineering. Simplicity reigns throughout, starting with a 300 horse 350 crate motor and automatic. For this lightweight machine, there’s plenty of go power! Another part of Boyd’s artistry is in the execution of such things as color. This one is a combination of Fawn and Burnt Orange metallic that’s subtle but striking at the same time. The interior is a luxurious Light Ultra Tan leather. Boyd was also known for his pioneering use of billet aluminum. The Boydster III follows suit with a billet steering wheel and staggered polished billet wheels. Obviously, stance is key in a street rod, and this one has the rake angle down pat. Boydster III is indeed an important piece of hot rodding history. From the covers of Hot Rod Magazine and Smithsonian Magazine to the American Hot Rod series on Discovery Channel, Boyd Coddington’s reputation spread even beyond the borders of the United States, turning him into a global icon.
