Vehicle Description

How close to perfection can you get?  That’s the question you might ask when you view this incredible 1956 Chevrolet Handyman Wagon.  With a mere 400 miles on the build, this is essentially a new car. The bright red paint simply gleams, augmented by the subtle gray bumpers and trim for a modern look.  Shaved door handles emphasize the clean, straightforward lines. A good custom will feature some bodywork wizardry, and this one does in the form of a custom one-piece power tailgate, a mod that’s both cool and practical.  The engine compartment is dressed to kill featuring a ZZ430 350 cubic inch crate motor highlighted by a custom fabricated air cleaner. A Holley 4-barrel keeps it simple but effective on top. The GM performance valve covers certainly hold their own in the looks department as well.  The radiator is hidden in front, but you can see those dual electric cooling fans. Coated Street and Performance Headers send the spent gases through a custom stainless dual exhaust system with generously sized 2½ inch pipes giving you the perfect tone. A handsome billet Lokar shifter commands the 700R4 automatic, and an aluminum driveshaft spins 3.70 gears inside a very impressive Currie third member.  A four link with coilovers looks and handles great. Up front, Heidts tubular a-arms provide an attractive and light-weight suspension. The interior is a tastefully understated black leather affair that’s comfortable, functional, and beautiful. It features a Flaming River Waterfall steering wheel, a handsome set of gauges by Classic Instruments, bucket seats, a bench back seat, and a cargo area you can actually use.  This is a car that invites close inspection. The finish on the frame rails is of the same quality as that on the body. Chrome and polish are abundant but not overly so. With the seldom seen Handyman body style and all its other quality features, this 1956 Chevy wagon is the perfect car for the perfectionist.
