1971 Chevrolet Chevelle Coupe – U0688
Vehicle Description
Maxmotive presents a 1971 Chevrolet Chevelle that offers a happy marriage of highly desirable classic attributes with 21st century technology. And yes, it’s a big block Chevelle, one of the all-time favorite muscle machines. So do you want to run on the street, the strip, or take it to shows? How about all of the above? First the power team, preferred among muscle car fans, the mighty 454 big block and Turbo 400 transmission. Big tube headers and 3-inch exhaust is the tried and true way to get the power and sound you want. On top, an Edelbrock Performer aluminum intake is also a familiar sight. The new school technology is the Holley fuel injection with an Avenger ECU controller hidden in the console. With chrome valve covers and custom air cleaner, the engine compartment is looking good. Paint was always a great way to spruce things up. Today, we have powder coating for a durable finish. All the pulleys and brackets are done this way. Stopping power has improved some over the years too. Disc brakes at all four corners see to it that this Chevelle has the whoa to match its go. Polyurethane bushings ensure tight handling. The interior is the familiar, handsome, and functional black vinyl Chevelle package with bucket seats and floor shift. A three spoke wheel on a tilt column looks and feels right. The tech is in the dash. The traditional rallye gauge cluster houses digital readouts for precise monitoring of speed, rpm, oil pressure, water temp, voltage, and of course your fuel level. A neat Pioneer stereo head tilts automatically so you can load CDs. Even the exterior conforms to the theme. There’s no need to mess with the body shape and trim. The 71 Chevelle was one of GM’s most successful and admired designs. This one includes the SS trim, SS stripes, and the coup de grace, the cowl induction hood, with the all-important under-hood hardware as well. The modern part begins with the paint. It’s Mitsubishi Burnt Orange Pearl clearcoat, and it looks fantastic on this Chevelle along with the black stripes. For the rolling stock, some serious rubber gets the power to the ground. Nitto Extreme drag radials on 20-inch Foose wheels in back and Nitto 555s on 18s in front provide the right attitude. The Foose design offers a nod to the American Racing drag wheels seen on Funnys and Gassers from the seventies. Few cars combine old school and new school in such a fun and effective way as seen here. Drive, fly, or beam aboard to see it at Maxmotive now.
