The hardware is also impressive, featuring a 440ci V8 engine, Shaker hood, 4-speed manual transmission with Pistol Grip shifter, 8¾ Sure Grip rear axle with 3.55 gears, and front disc brakes, all wrapped in gorgeous B5 Blue metallic paint. Starting with a clean 318 V8 Gran Coupe, the car was completely disassembled down to the unibody. All the original sheetmetal remains intact, but it was put on a rotisserie and stripped to bare metal, then refinished in its original Blue Fire Metallic (B5 Blue) exterior paint. An extra gallon comes with the car to assure a perfect match should the need arise. The 440 engine is a runner. Edelbrock aluminum heads, a Holley 850cfm carb on an Edelbrock Torker 2 intake, a COMP hydraulic roller cam, and TTI ceramic coated headers combine for a calculated 541 horsepower and 550 lb-ft of torque, sent through an A833 4-speed manual transmission to the Sure Grip rear. The entire exhaust system aft of the headers is stainless steel polished to a high luster. The 1973 351 Windsor Engine (a desirable pre-’74 block) was thoroughly rebuilt with TRW forged pistons, polished crank, plus new bearings and timing chain. Performance enhancing goodies include a Ford Motorsports cam, Edelbrock intake, Holley 600 Carb, and headers with dual exhaust and Flowmaster mufflers. Likable because it sports one of the most popular drivetrains of all time with a 350ci small block mated to a Turbo 350 automatic transmission. A Summit Racing 4-barrel brings added reliability and performance to the mix. The exhaust exits through a set of tube headers and full length dual pipes with performance mufflers. The tone is mellow with a hint of a cam lope. What street machine is complete without a little flash? An Edelbrock chrome air cleaner and Chevrolet Performance chrome valve covers fill the bill there. A B&M Quicksilver ratchet shifter allows you to shift as aggressively as you please without fear of hitting reverse unintentionally. Or you can run in full automatic mode. This iconic automobile was deservedly treated to a thorough frame-on restoration in 2007. The included photos show the extent of the work on a solid foundation inside and out. The combination of the factory color Matador Red exterior and India Ivory top sets the classic theme. The engine was upgraded from the original 283 to a more robust 327 with an Edelbrock 4-barrel on an Edelbrock aluminum intake. Driveability is further enhanced with a Mallory electronic ignition. The two-speed automatic was replaced with a Tremec 5-speed manual transmission. Gears are selected utilizing a rugged Hurst shifter with stylish black ball. A subtle update is the 16” steering wheel. It looks like the original, but its smaller diameter offers better control and greater comfort. It’s mounted on a tilt column. Power steering and power front disc brakes team up to further update the drive. A classic Sun tach is stationed next to the Bluetooth-compatible radio.
