The Electra is a full-size luxury behemoth that was manufactured and marketed by Buick from 1959 to 1990. The Electra served as the flagship of Buick line through its entire production. The Buick Electra brand name traces its origin to a real-life person. The vehicle is named after Texas socialite and sculptor Electra Waggoner Biggs, the sister-in-law of then GM President Harlow H. Curtice.
The 225 was the top-line Electra model in 1960 and if one wanted a convertible, it was only available in the Electra 225 trim (commonly called the Duce and a Quarter back in the day). These classic Buicks have become one of the most sought after “Jet Age” convertibles offered in the late 1950’s through early 1960’s.
