Description

This is one of the last and one of the most elegant pre-war luxury automobiles. By 1941 Cadillac had established itself as one of the premier manufacturers in the world. This Series 62 Convertible Coupe is an artifact of a special time in American history, and it’s a testament to the craftsmanship and quality of cars from this period. This one was disassembled, the body removed from the frame, and then lovingly restored mechanically and cosmetically to the beautiful and enjoyable finished product you see before you. An electric fuel pump and a battery kill switch were added to make the car easy to drive, even when it’s stored most of the time. Starting the 346ci V8 will widen the smile you already had just getting in the car. The engine is so smooth, you have to listen carefully to be sure it’s running! And a short drive will make clear where the phrase “rides like a Cadillac” came from. Things were different back then. Items such as a radio, back-up lights, and even a heater were optional. But this example has them all, and another pleasant surprise – a power top. Plus, a special-order paint color. It makes an elegant fashion statement in combination with the tan leather interior. Indeed, the car’s color scheme is right in step with current styles. Burled walnut veneer on the dash, large chrome instruments, and a graceful, charming clock offer a luxurious atmosphere inside. This 1941 Cadillac Series 62 Convertible Coupe harkens back to a different time, but it certainly stands on its own merit in design and engineering. Of course, it’s well known what took place at the end of 1941. Everyone did their part. The very same engine used in this car was pressed into service in the American military effort for use in tanks. Ruggedness? Dependability? Power? There you go. This is an amazing machine; it’s a stately and elegant way to travel. Or you can be the main attraction anywhere quality classic cars are shown.
