Under that big bonnet is the trusty Thriftmaster inline 6 cylinder engine capable of whisking the car beyond legal speeds anywhere in the country. Teamed with the smooth-running six is the unique 3-speed synchromesh manual transmission with a vacuum assist that allows easy fingertip shifting. The dash presents as near new, a highlight being the speedometer surrounded by a full array of gauges. The faces and lenses are beautifully clear, and the original radio is in place. The upholstery is an attractive and comfortable blend of cloth and vinyl in beige and blue blending well with the exterior. That the DeLuxe is from a different era is clearly evident in the owner’s manual. “Your 1950 Chevrolet” contains instruction on push starting an automatic transmission car on an icy surface – certainly not something that a manufacturer would advise today! The vintage look is emphasized with a chrome spotlight/mirror, fender skirts, the correct chrome hubcaps, and wide whites. The American Classic tires do indeed have a classic look, but they are S-speed rated radials.
