1954 Mercury Monterey 2 Door

Back in the ‘50’s Mercs and Vettes dominated the hot rod street scene. Today of course, it’s much less common to see a Merc. This 1954 Mercury Monterey is sure to bring back memories. A full restoration was completed in 2013. Powered by the 256 cubic inch OHV Y-block, the engine compartment is as it should be including the glass washer fluid bottle, the original air cleaner, and power steering pump. The correct emblems on the car proclaim the presence of the Merc-O-Matic column-shifted transmission. Red exterior paint with a contrasting white top, fender skirts, spoke wheel covers, wide whites, and that majestic Continental kit combine for a very appealing nostalgic look. The dual pipes jetting out the back with their chrome tips look great under that massive rear bumper. More of the same awaits inside with a three-color white, red, and black interior featuring leather-faced seats. All the chrome and detail in here is really impressive. The uniquely mounted heat and ventilation levers are inspired, as much of Detroit design was back in the day, by aircraft controls. There’s even a chrome factory tissue dispenser. And yes, fuzzy dice. That this was a well-loved automobile shows with the matching embroidered cushions in the back seat. Complete with power steering and power front disc brakes, and the original owners package including the Guide to Better Motoring (owner’s manual) it’ll be easy for you to love as well.
