VW Beetles are a major of the collector car scene — and deservedly so. During the muscle car era, there were feature stories in the hot rod magazines, dune buggies, and even famous cars like the Durachrome Bug and EMPI Inch Pincher. Today, they are red-hot collectibles. This one nails the California Inch Pincher look with it’s custom red metallic paint and cool-as-can-be EMPI 5-spoke wheels. It even has some speed goodies in the engine compartment. The red and white interior complete a coordinated package. Originally a Southern car, this shining example has a slick installation of an Alpine sound system with the receiver concealed in the glove box. It’s connected to more serious audio hardware not the least of which are two 10-inch Kicker subwoofers. The car has the hot rod bug look down pat with its cool stance and hardware. The surfboards on the roof provide the crowning California custom touch.
