MaxMotive is proud to present this beautifully finished 1966 Pontiac GTO. The 1966 model year marked the first time Pontiac offered the GTO as its own stand-alone model, and many enthusiasts regard it as the original muscle car. The signature split front grille and flowing coke bottle body lines paired with the Reef Turquoise paint give this GTO a presence that immediately stands out.
This example was restored in 1990 and features a parchment leather interior that remains in excellent condition. The convertible top operates smoothly with power assist and adds to the timeless appeal of this classic. The car retains its original radio in the dash while a Pioneer system is neatly tucked into the glove box for a subtle modern audio upgrade.
Power comes from a 389 cubic inch V8 paired with a 4-speed manual transmission. The Hurst shifter provides clean and confident gear changes. Additional mechanical highlights include a posi differential and 3.55 gear ratio. The car rides on PMD wheels painted to match the exterior and BF Goodrich tires with plenty of tread remaining. Air shocks contribute to a comfortable cruising experience. A car cover and spare tire are included.
This 1966 GTO blends classic muscle, elegant color choices, and tasteful updates that preserve the integrity of the car while enhancing its usability. The previous owner and husband have enjoyed this vehicle for many years and believe the next owner will as well!
