1968 Ford Galaxie XL – V0842
Vehicle Description
This magnificent 1968 Ford Galaxie XL Fastback 390 four-speed is featured proudly at the Maxmotive Pittsburgh showroom. It has the 390 FE big block teamed with a 4-speed manual and Hurst shifter. The original build sheet accompanies the car. Other valuable literature includes a thick stack of receipts, the 1968 Ford Better Ideas brochure, a 1968 Ford and Mercury Shop Manual, a 1968 Passenger Car Maintenance and Lubrication Manual, a print ad featuring the XL Fastback, and Ford’s Helpful Hints for a Safer Ride. The big FE engine has been treated to a dual Holley four-barrel setup, Lunati cam (cam specs included), and MSD ignition. The exhaust system is a standout, starting with coated headers, then dual stainless pipes with crossover. The sound is marvelous. The rich deep cherry red has a high gloss and looks great on the full size Galaxie. Subtle black accent stripes adorn the rocker panels along with the 390 emblems. Bucket seats and a full length center console highlight the interior, which also features a Hurst floor shifter. The interior presents superbly and as original. The factory AM/8-track radio and original clock are not operating, but they are present and look great. A Sunpro tach and Summit gauges under the dash monitor the vitals. Period correct dog dish hubcaps combine with BFGoodrich Silvertown redline radials for a muscular look. An excellent example of sixties full-size muscle, this Better Idea 1968 Ford Galaxie XL Fastback has big block power, a four-speed manual, and some solid hot-rodding upgrades resulting in a very drivable and desirable package.
