1970 Chevrolet Camaro 2-Door Coupe

Located at Maxmotive in Pittsburgh, this 1970 Camaro RS/SS 396 was one of only about 600 built. A date-code correct L78 375 horsepower Turbo Jet 396 V8 engine, a Muncie M20 4-speed manual transmission, and a 12-bolt Positraction axle round out a classic Camaro drivetrain. The original window sticker and invoice are with the car and they show that it was well-optioned. In addition to the L78 engine option, there are also such good things to see as the Camaro SS equipment, special instrumentation (full-size factory tach next to the speedometer), custom interior, and “air spoiler equipment.” This example flaunts the desirable Rally Sport package with the split bumpers, special turn signals, and innovative grille with a vertical bumper in the middle. The front air dam and rear duck tail spoiler are collectible items themselves. This example is in its original color Cortez Silver with a black interior. The window sticker modestly declares, “This car includes Astro Ventilation, bucket seats, carpeting, front shoulder belts, head restraints, lighter, front seat back latches, front disc brakes, Camaro SS equip — special V8 engine, dual exhaust, power brakes, wide-rim wheels, wide-oval tires, spec chassis components, custom interior — luxury trim, wood-grain accents, special insulation, luggage mat.” The engine was rebuilt using a roller cam and kit, plus roller lifters and a set of tube headers. The correct exhaust manifolds, air pump, and associated hardware are included as well.
