Vehicle Description

“This was one of the last cars Boyd had his mind and hands on before his passing. And just like all his projects, this ‘32 utilizes only the best products, and greatest depth of skill available.” – Roger C. Johnson. This is the car that became known as “The Master’s Last Hod Rod” after the untimely passing of master builder Boyd Coddington. Boyd was indeed a master, building cars for star personalities and launching the careers of the likes of Chip Foose, Jesse James, and Larry Erickson, Chief Designer of the Mustang and Thunderbird at Ford Motor Company. You would expect the product of Boyd’s many successful years of design and building experience to be something special – and it is. Boyd personally took the car to 90% complete status. Then, as a tribute to the legend, some of the greatest names in the custom car industry brought it to completion. The body was recreated by Coddington’s Shop of Wonders with help from Marcel’s Custom Metal Shaping, creating a longer hood and side panels, and matching stretched fenders. The finish is a simple but effective application of rich black exterior paint by Bernet Carlsen. The crowning touch is the one-of-a-kind steel lift-off top. Ample power is supplied by none other than Roush Racing – a 358 cubic inch fuel injected Ford small block with a complete roller valvetrain and custom fabbed headers. The exhaust exits in a marvelously executed single outlet that fits ingeniously beneath the chromed independent rear suspension. Ron Mangus worked his magic on the interior, which presents the luxurious high-end feel of the world’s greatest automobiles. Black high-grade leather covers the power bucket seats, and the look, feel, and that wonderful aroma confirm that only the very best made it into this build. Wool carpeting, deep, dark wood trim, and custom gauges highlight a truly decadent cabin. Superior engineering was always a Boyd trademark, and this build is a showcase. The car has fully independent suspension with coil overs at all four corners. Also all the way around are power disc brakes. Driver control is also aided by power rack & pinion steering. The closer and longer you look, the more amazing details you discover – as it is with any true masterpiece. The essence of Boyd Coddington permeates this one-of-a-kind creation. It’s a magnum opus of a beloved and respected leader, innovator, teacher, and craftsman whose work has been carefully preserved here. The odometer currently shows less than one mile. A 1932 Ford B400 Custom Convertible, verified in the Official Boyd Coddington American Registry with a Certificate of Authenticity.
