Vehicle Description

This exemplary post-war hot rod, an outstanding 1946 Ford Coupe with a smooth-running Mercury Flathead, is now available in the MAXmotive Pittsburgh Showroom. A recent restoration completed in 2017, the car has been enjoyed just 1777 miles since. The 1950 Merc V8 sports a Big Bubba distributor, Red’s Headers, and is fed through a pressure regulator, new fuel lines and gas tank. To optimize performance, a GM 5-speed manual transmission with Hurst shifter gets the nod. In back is an 8-inch Ford rear with 3.50 gears. The stance is achieved through a dropped front axle while a Chassis Engineering parallel leaf spring conversion aids in the ride and handling department. Some modern touches include front disc brakes, Saginaw steering box, tilt column, and Summit single stage Satin Black exterior paint. Inside are beautiful white face Dolphin gauges and a CD player. The red and white upholstery is a great contrast to the paint and the interior is roomy and comfortable. The chrome bumpers and stainless trim are fresh, and the car is brimming with custom details such as blue dot tailights, chrome exhaust tips, and a banjo steering wheel. New brake lines and glass assure that you’ll stay on the road and looking good. A cool bonus is that while the car currently rides on whitewall radials, new Mastercraft 205/70R15s for the front and Hankook P235/70R15s for the back mounted on new American Racing aluminum wheels are included for when you want an appearance with a little more attitude. 1946 was a banner year in hot rodding history. The war was over, the legendary Blair’s Speed Shop and So-Cal Speed Shops opened, and racing began at El Mirage. This unpretentious 1946 Ford Coupe harkens back to those exciting days, with a touch of modern craftsmanship to make the car even more drivable and enjoyable.
