1970 Chevrolet Chevelle SS 396

This truly outstanding low mileage, numbers matching 1970 Chevelle SS396 is now available from the Maxmotive Pittsburgh Showroom. Believed to be just 35813 actual miles, the car was treated to a complete repaint in its original shade of Fathom Blue. Photos included show that the body panels were taken down to bare metal and that they were solid and straight. Plus, those world-famous SS stripes are painted on. The original trim tag is in place as it was when it left the Arlington TX plant in February of 1970. The original 402ci big block (date code Feb 12) is beautifully tuned. Throttle response is excellent. An Edelbrock 4-barrel sends the mixture through an Edelbrock Performer aluminum intake. A COMP cam with the perfect grind has a nice idle with a little lope to it, yet the throttle response and bottom end torque will bring the smiles. The cam specs are included among the extensive material that comes with the car. Coated headers, dual stainless pipes, and Flowmaster mufflers provide the performance and desired sound. Invoices for parts and labor, the resto work, and air conditioning installation are also included. A Turbo 400 automatic ably transmits the torque to a 12-bolt rear. A chrome B&M pan is the finishing touch to work performed at Tim Moye Transmissions in Lutz FL. The trans received a new modulator, governor, filter kit, and speedo housing while there and it shifts crisply and on time. You’ll love how it works with the 3.31 rear end gears. The interior is up to the same lofty standards as the rest of the car. The beautiful Ivory bucket seats were rebuilt and reupholstered and the results are excellent. The original console contains the factory floor shifter. Monitor the revs with a Sun Super Tach II. Air conditioning by Vintage Air is neatly installed and will keep you comfortable on even the hottest days. An updated AM/FM radio, also neatly installed, fits in the stock location. Factory power steering and power front disc brakes contribute to the superb driveability, which is further enhanced with Coker radials. These are authentic reproductions of the original Firestone Wide Oval white letter tires. Together with the correct SS wheels, Fathom Blue paint, and white SS stripes, this 1970 Chevelle SS396 represents one of the most desirable packages in the muscle car world.
