A very unique, historic 1979 Chevrolet Corvette Coupe with a special pedigree is now available from the MaxMotive Pittsburgh Showroom. The car was formerly owned by Donna Mae Mims, an SCCA racing champion and an executive secretary at the fabled Yenko Chevrolet in Cannonsburg, PA. Donna became known as the “Pink Lady,” as that color was a trademark of her race cars. She was such a renowned and beloved figure in the racing and automotive scene that, according to Wikipedia, she was portrayed by Adrienne Barbeau in the 1981 movie, Cannonball Run. More than just a “pretty face,” Donna Mae Mims won her first race in 1960 driving a Corvette, she actually drove in the Cannonball Run in 1972, and in an interview with LA Times’ Jack Smith, she talked about her racing mindset. “I remove all my makeup,” she said. “You’re only out there for one thing. To win. Nobody remembers second place.” Her association with Yenko Chevrolet is part of her legacy. The car is a 1979 Corvette Coupe in Donna’s trademark pink, with an airbrushed image of another famous blonde, Marilyn Monroe, on the hood. It runs and drives as you would expect from a car associated with Yenko. Its 350 small block is fortified with an Edelbrock 4-barrel and an Edelbrock aluminum intake. It’s also generously equipped with air conditioning, power steering and 4-wheel disc brakes, power windows, power door locks, and the original Delco AM/FM stereo radio. Rear window louvers and chrome exhaust tips were added. A copy of the title verifying Donna Mae’s ownership is included with this historic 1979 Chevrolet Corvette Coupe. Please be sure to see the detailed photos at www.maxmotive.com.
*MAXmotive specializes in collectible classic and custom vehicles. We have more than 200 vehicles in our collection and have sold dozens nationwide and even overseas.
